I have a cousin who once told me, "Sometimes when we open the doors to our church it stinks to high heaven from the sinners inside."
Her words caused me to reflect that sometimes people who are very religious are trying to overcome great flaws within themselves, hoping that if they work hard enough, they will get into heaven.
And I have made note of the fact that sometimes, (not always), those who pay lip service to their religion and who attend church regularly have never been able to see themselves clearly enough to work on their own flaws.
I am sorry if you were hurt. I know I was.
