I Need to Calm Down

But I can't, not just yet at least. Please, make sure I'm not left alone in a room with Anne Longfield. I would not be responsible for my actions. I am fuming.

First, anyone who knows me, even in passing, will know me to be a self declared front line staunch and vociferous, even eloquent defender and supporter of survivors. Particularly abused children, but any vulnerable or impacted person. Can we establish and note that I would therefore always put children's interests first? I thank you.

Anne Longfield, unable to progress any meaningful or productive debate to further her predefined objectives with teaching unions, has decided to 'go public' in an attempt to sidestep and ridicule teachers, by assuming she might get public support 'on her side'. An old, predictable, well worn and unworthy strategic tool, which I hope will come back to hurt her political posterior in a metaphorical way. Her mistake? "It is, after all, the children's interests we should put first". No, my dear lady, this is a truly wonderful and apposite maxim for protecting the young and vulnerable in abuse and the parental sharing of responsibility situations, but, in this scenario, it is not appropriate. The teachers have just as important interest to factor in. They are not expendable. Nor are they uniquely immune to the life changing and life threatening effects of this as yet not understood killer disease.

Madam Longfield, you dilute the true meaning of caring for children in this way, just to progress what is clearly a flawed political objective. As highlighted by our science based BMA.

Shame on you Anne Longfield and all those who have put you up to peddle your stupidity.
