Sunday evening cogitations
I'm switching over to the KJV instead of NRSV, to get that iconic phraseology into my heart and soul.
Marcus Aurelius' Meditations with extensive footnotes by Robin Waterfield is an all timer, I'm considering putting a little bit of effort into compiling a list of books and works that would make up a personal Canon, and Meditations would be in there just as surely as my noodle is frugal.
A guy called here asking about dad, a church buddy, so I passed along my brother's number so he can be more fully updated, I let a couple other church members know what's going on, and I asked them to spread the word, so I did my part I think.
Just now I finished a chapter of the Jonestown book, how he'd eavesdrop so he could "read minds" so he could be seen as having special powers, and on the surface, he was doing some admirable work including black and white people in the congregation. But the devil is in the details, and ultimately in the Kool-Aid.
There's about 20 books I dip into per day, a chapter each at least, unless their not divided that way, most of the time shall be with the classic fiction heroes of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Well my last microwave meals is dinging, i'll eat that, there's still 12 cans of chili, a small order will arrive on Tuesday, and I have a little more cash for the walks i'll do to keep healthy, and avoid starvation.
This month is going to be a stretch for me, next month I will definitely not be spending on some of the things I did this month, no whiskey at all.
I will need to see my doc soon though, so I can get more meds, and cannot afford taxi rides so please pretty please be good to me Mr. Weatherman.
Have a good week people!!
