@bijouxbroussard Maybe Hindi. Sanskrit is a written language only.
In GB Shaw's play Pygmallion, when Henry Higgins meets Colonel Pickering, he has a line, "Colonel Pickering? The author of 'Spoken Sanskrit?' " (I don't remember whether this line made it into the musical adaptation, My Fair Lady.) It was an "in" joke, which would have gone over the head of many members of the audience.
