Honestly Madeleine, that really depends on how the individuals deal with this situation.
But I do agree with you that mariage, or a society that enforces mariage either by the law or through regious peer pressure, creates order. However, the problem with that idea, is that order also comes with a cost that certain individuals have to pay because society don't let them break up. It also comes with the individual cost of those people that don't believe in mariage or have a high tendency to promiscuity. Hence that societies that have such laws and have peer pressure, also create some serious misserable and depressed individuals that can't deal with.
Since I believe that my opinion on how someone should live shouldn't be dictated (specially in the bed chamber, I'm just not arrogant enough to do so) I rather have individuals figure this out for themselves. I don't think that the state or that peer pressure is helpfull in every case, and I don't want to be the reason of other people hanging themselves up because I was mean to them because I believe they ought to live a certain way.
