Loss of friends

I have recently lost 3 good friends due to who I voted for. I’ve known these 3 ladies for 18 years and we were very close. I can’t tell you how shocked I was, and sad. They have known for years who o supported, but this year they decided to cut ties with me bc their candidate lost. Anyone else gone through this?

No, and I guess it won't happen, since if it was going to, it would have happened while I lived in Quebec and through 2 sovereignty referendums. (Of course, knowing almost 0 sovereigntists helped some).
I have seen this sort of thing happen close to home though. My uncle and his family, who aren't even American, saw a very old friendship w/another family come to an end over politics. What's going on there???
