I never had any idea that the term 'showing up as a wife' or 'showing up as a husband' actually had a multi-level meaning

In relationships, "showing up as a wife" or "showing up as a husband" doesn't just mean the physical presence (which is what as a neuro-spicy introverted person it looks to me to be in a stand-alone sense).

Once you get married, you are automatically meant to 'show up' physically. 8-)

I've never been married, or engaged so 'showing up' never has had a pair-bonding linked meaning to me.

Allegedly the second-level meaning is about being actively, emotionally, *and* physically present for your partner. Apparently it goes beyond the legal title to embody consistent support, loyalty, and partnership. This involves proactive care, emotional availability, and effective teamwork in your marriage.

This is the big part that the religious perspectives of marriage forget to include in my understanding of what intimate adult human relationships are about.

Is this something you automatically 'know' or another one of those mysterious things about relationships everyone presumes you know by default but never really do esp if you've never seen it demonstrated by your parents, other couples you know, etc.?

@Floki Thanks. I seriously never had any idea that the term 'showing up' meant more than just being physically present (not intimately - just being 'present' in a literal sense). Does the feminist sisterhood create these definitions of what 'showing up' as a married relationship partner means? Is there any textbook supplied as part of getting married that explains it all in easy to understand format? Who teaches you, or shows you real examples of, what it means? I'm not a psychologist nor do I know any to ask about how this facet of human relationships is supposed to work.
