Do you have a best friend now that you are an adult? I have plenty of close/old friends at this point in my life, but the last time I had a "best" friend was when I was a teenager. When and why did your former best friend stop being your best friend? For anyone who has ever "broken up" with a best friend, (or anyone extremely close) what happened? I'm just curious if girls tell their best friends everything (not EVERYTHING, but you know what I mean) e.g. who they have a crush on, secrets etc but not anything TOO personal. Because as a guy, I tend to keep most of my deepest thoughts away from my best friends in case we stopped being friends and he uses the secret's advantage on me. Maybe it's because I am an introvert and a male. What is it like to have that one person in your life that you know enjoys being around you, and someone who you can share anything with? I am a senior in high school and I feel as if I will never know that feeling, as people never really have friends like the ones they had when they were kids. Who is your best friend and why?

I'm a male in my early 20's and I've realised recently that my social circle has somewhat dwindled from what it used to be; friends getting married, having kids, moving away and so it goes, I suppose.
When did you know your best friend was your best friend?
It leaves me left with maybe.. two genuine friends that I proactively want to spend time with and get to see on a regular basis, not including my partner or work colleagues. So, I'd like to know about your social circle, Reddit. How's it changed since you got older? Any memorable stories? How do you balance your social life amongst other commitments? How well do you know your best friend? Those of you who met your best friend after age 30, how did you meet?

I listen to a very wide variety of music, enjoy arts & crafts, and appreciate good storytelling. Can drink a lot and enjoy talking to strangers at bars, but never find genuine connects there. I'd rather spend an afternoon in the park or museum district than nightlife. My interests and preferences don't provoke me to run into likeminded people.

Are you similar? What were your experiences in finding new long-term friends? Were you doing something out of the ordinary or was it a usual day? My best in friend in high school and I have a nice story. Our mom's were actually good friends in high school. Couple years after high school, they ran into each other somewhere, both pregnant with their first child. A good 12 years later, they ran into each other again at the store (I was there), apparently, both me and her daughter were starting high school in September, in the same school. We happened to be in the same class as well. Although we're not best friends anymore (33 now), she's still the only friend from high school I actually still keep in touch with.
