What would you describe as your type of guy/girl?
What would you describe as your type? What characteristics do you look for when looking for someone to date? What is your favorite type of personality in a man? What is your ideal type of girl/guy? Do you have a 'type'? If so how often have you found yourself going outside your type?
I ask because I thought I had a type. For the longest time I just dated intellectual brunettes. Then I dated an awesome fun blonde girl and it changed everything for me :) Don't know what my type is now. How would you describe your dream guy? How different is your SO from your ideal type? What's your ideal type of guy?
My kind of guy, is someone who doesn't mind body fat. I wouldn't say I'm fat, but I have at least a gut, so I'm slightly chubby. I wouldn't want someone who's fatter than me, nothing personal. I also have body hair (it grows back quickly). I'd like people who like anime, manga, video games and etc. I don't like sports games, so no Madden or such, I'm mediocre at shooting games, but I love fighting and racing games. Rhythm games? Sure, why not? Also love me some Disney. I'd also like people that don't mind silence sometimes. I'm usally very quiet most of the time, almost all of the time. I also am more of a indoor person, but I will outside sometimes. I like fluffy animals, especially cats. I love cats. I just hate monkeys and apes, they're so goddamn annoying. I know this sounds like a dating profile, but I'm scared of online dating because of catfishing. How close is your SO to your ideal type?
My friends keep telling me that one day I’ll find my ideal type of girl and she’ll be perfect for me. But I thought the idea of finding your SO meant that no matter what their physical appearance is, you still love them. Is your current SO any different that what your "ideal" man or women would be? If so, what is different? Comment your type and describe your ideal relationship?
What do you look for in a partner emotionally? What do you look for in a partner physically? What are some examples of your ideal dates? Do you have an ideal type? I'm just curious what each type or different people value or look for. For me: I would want my partner to have a passion or a drive for something, whether its art or the medical field, I would want them to wake up with a purpose. I would also want them to be good and communication and open minded. I would hope they aren't the toxic stubborn. I would want them to be nice and supportive and "homey". I also would want them to give me attention (please). I would also want them to do cool stuff, like go study together, stay up all night and binge watch movies, or go to cool places.
Physically, I am not too picky, I don't really judge by height, "private" sizes, etc. I do hope they would work out just because I also do, and its healthy and stuff. Preferably, I wouldn't want them to be too muscular or too overweight, but I can overlook them. Race doesn't matter, but I am not going to lie, I do have a preference but it is minor (not going to mention it because of someone is def. going to get offended). I would really want to go to an amusement park at night or I really like study dates. I am not a huge nature/"outdoorsy" person so I don't really like hiking and stuff. My all time favorite is the classic stay in, watch movies and eat, then sleep. Also, study dates, you can never go wrong with those. How would you describe your ideal man?
Not necessarily the perfect man, just what qualities, hobbies, attributes, etc., you find attractive. My ideal girl/boy is out of my reach; should I settle for what I can get? For anyone who felt like they "settled" with someone, what led you to that point, and how did it turn out? What are the signs someone is settling for you in a relationship? Did you marry someone you weren't passionately in love with? What's been your experience? How would you describe your "type" or the type of person you are attracted to? Has it changed over time?
Is there a particular reason you like this type of person (reminds you of someone, is similar to you, opposite of you etc.) How would you describe your personality and what kind of personality are you attracted to? Do men have a "type"? Does it matter when it comes to dating or relationships?
We're kind of taking a more open ended approach to FAQ Friday this week. I think it's safe to assume most men have preferences with what they're looking for in women. Some like blondes, while some like brunettes. Some like thinner women, while some like curvier women. Some like tall women, while some prefer short women. Of course this works if the genders are switched here, but we're in AskMen so we're going for a man's perspective on attraction. With that being said, women are often come around with "If a guy likes X will he still date me/find me attractive if I have Y?" questions. Example: "If a man says he's an ass man, will he still find me attractive if my ass is flat?" or "My current boyfriend only dated women 5'5" and under, does he not find me as attractive since I'm 5'8"?" So, men. Tell us how your usual "types" and preferences come into play when it comes to attraction and dating. Questions to focus on: Are your physical preferences set in stone? Can you find women attractive who aren't your "type"? What other qualities makes you look beyond your usual "type"?
Can you date people who aren't your "type"? Have you ever fallen for a girl who isn't your "type" and what is your story behind it?
Have you ever fallen for a girl who isn't your "type" or who you wouldn't normally consider attractive? I know, I know... Beauty is in the eye of a beholder, but have you ever been surprised or fallen for a girl that you didn't initially find attractive at all and wouldn't make the move on if you saw her in a bar? This sounds stereotypical but it's true in most cases, people of similar attractiveness date each other (like I said, I'm generalising) but I want to hear your story, if you have one.
