If you are divorced or widowed, how long before you stopped wearing your wedding ring ?

If you are widowed, do you still wear it ? Or have you switched it to your other hand ?

A couple of the divorced members of my family wear their "former" wedding rings on a chain on their necks.

I don't know if that is some form of symbolism or what......
