What do you do to prepare for marriage? Or being in union with a potential life partner?

When do you discuss having children or not?

That should definitely be an early part of dating. Any important aspects to your life should be communicated sooner rather than later to weed out incompatible partners.
I'd discuss the possibility of procreating beforehand. In preparation I'd attend couple's financial counseling to decide how our assets could be potentially divided should we decide to dissolve the union as well as determine each others' spending habits and shared financial goals; also I'd attend couples' therapy to work through our emotional dilemmas.

Absolutely discuss everything that might come up after marriage. I think the reason there are so many divorces now is people rush into marriage too quick. I even suggest cohabiting a while before marriage- living with a person is how you really get to know them.
