An old lady's advice:
First, don't base your marriage on falling in love. Those feelings do not last and are a bad way to decide if someone could be a mate for life. Being in love is a kind of insanity so don't use it to make decisions.
2nd bit of advice: Don't decide to throw common sense to the winds and then marry into a situation that is automatically stressful; marriage itself is enough stress so don't marry obvious trouble (examples: marrying an alcoholic or drug addict, marrying someone whose relatives hate you or your ethnicity, marrying someone with a history of violence etc.)
3rd bit of advice: If your family and/or your friends tell you that the marriage you are considering would be a bad one, and they are all urging you to break up with your love partner, LISTEN TO THEM. In situations, like this, they are nearly always right.

@greenmountaingal All great advice but how can you pick someone without letting love get in the way?
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@onelucasbest Pick your mate based on character, emotional stability and obvious compatibility factors. It's OK to be in love, just don't decide to marry based on strong feelings alone. If in doubt, consult your closest friends and/or relatives, assuming you respect their judgment generally.

I was 30 when I married and thought the same thing as you did! But one thing I could not count on was her changing her heart and mind! I pray and wish you better luck than I had.
