You can be an ethical person without being a believer in God or any religion. You can have values even if they are not directly based on a traditional belief.

I always thought marriage was a bond between two people who love each other rather than a religious thing 🤔 Personally I would never marry tho so I don't know.

@SoulAsylum - I also will never marry but I wouldn't go as far as saying one particular person always ends up better or worse. Thats like saying a woman will always end up raising the kids on her own while the guy is free to start a new life. Thats my experience as a kid, but I understand it's not always the case.

you can still get married without getting god involved. lol, that's what civil union is for

I see marriage as a legal issue and a good decision if you plan on living with another person. I believe religion puts too much pressure on couples that really want to stay together.

It is for me, it was also a good excuse of a party.

I guess I should have added that problems can easily arise if a believer and a non- believer decide to marry. It is better if there is agreement about basic beliefs and ideas about how a marriage should be conducted.

Soul, here in the UK if my partner God forbid died and we weren't married I technically can have no say in his funeral or anything we have accumulated together, his family could come in and take everything and if there's no will I couldn't do a thing about it..

I do think there are many people of many different religions who don't value marriage at all, they just do it just because lol

What I'm saying is there no point people can be together without it. My parents were together for 45 years and never married raised five kids together.

marriage is being in love and being with the person you love so i don't care if i'm an atheist. and i don't need to get married per say, but i'll do everything to make my future wife or girlfriend happy :)
