I Support Gay Marriage [Gay Marriage]

The facts about gay marriage are these: Marriage was given to us by the God of the universe. It was meant to be between a man and a woman. People have freedom to do what they want to , but thinking that marriage is anything other than what God gave to man, that would be rebellion against God to think you can change the rules that God put in place. This is not hatred or bigotry or anything else to believe that it is anything other than the way God set it up. People will answer to God for the way they deal with this. Not anybody else. Not my opinion- it's God's Word.

OK I read Romans 1 ... still no idea why I did.
lyle687276 · 70-79, M
@Pherick and you still can't see where it talks about the natural function for men and women? Verse 26-27
Pherick · 41-45, M
@lyle687276 The problem of course here is that I don't think the bible is anything but a book. I could find plenty of books that say gay marriage is great.

Thats also not pointing out that Romans 1 doesn't say ANYTHING about marriage. Also, the next few verses talk about other evils as well. Why aren't you speaking out against greed the way you are against gays? Why aren't all Christians communists?
lyle687276 · 70-79, M
@Pherick you make the grave mistake of comparing the Word of God to men's words. There is a huge difference. The Bible is not just another book.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@lyle687276 eh grave mistake ... not really. You have no more real proof that a book I wrote is any more influenced by the god, than your bible is. The bible is old, thats about all it has going for it.
lyle687276 · 70-79, M
When I say grave mistake I mean it. You disregard God's word at your peril when you die and are judged by it. Why the hardened heart towards your maker? Look around you. Do you think this world came into being by chance? Fulfilled prophecy alone is more than proof that the Bible is truly His word. Don't you want to loook into it?
Pherick · 41-45, M
@lyle687276 I went to a Christian school for most of my life, church, etc. Just realized that none of it has any proof. An omnipotent deity who created the universe, all life on it, and here on Earth, and he can't pop down and show us??? Nah, no thanks.
lyle687276 · 70-79, M
So you don't know about fulfilled prophecy? He has told us that He does plan to return too! Why do you need physical proof? God says Faith is what pleases Him. Hard to believe you are willing to take this chance. @Pherick
Pherick · 41-45, M
@lyle687276 What fulfilled prophecy are you referring to? Lots of people want to think they find a "prophecy" that has been fulfilled.

I need physical proof because I have a mind that can only trust its senses. If thats the way "god" made us, why not prove it to us in a way we could actually understand? Why does an omnipotent being need faith?

Hard to believe you are wasting your time on a book.
lyle687276 · 70-79, M
[@God does not need faith from us-He demands it! He is God.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@lyle687276 Kind of a dick move from an omnipotent god to demand something from something he created isn't it? Why not just create creatures who have blind faith built in?
lyle687276 · 70-79, M
[@Good question! We don't have blind faith. It is in a real God who loves us enough to send His Son to die for our sins. God only demands in the sense that He is the only one we can turn to, not ourselves and not any man
Pherick · 41-45, M
@lyle687276 So lets assume all of that is true, why one man, 3000 years before any kind of worldwide communication? Wouldn't a savior around NOW make more sense?
lyle687276 · 70-79, M
Oh believe me He is around! Still requires faith, my friend! [@Prophecy tells us He is coming back in person too!
Pherick · 41-45, M
@lyle687276 Ohhhh yea, see thats just it. I don't believe you. I don't believe in a book.
lyle687276 · 70-79, M
Suit yourself. The words in that "book" will be the standard you are judged by someday. God offers us a way to avoid the judgment of our sins through the shed blood of His Son in the cross. What is so wrong and repulsive about that?
lyle687276 · 70-79, M
[@Don't believe me. Believe in God!
Pherick · 41-45, M
@lyle687276 As soon as he shows up, I will!
walabby · 61-69, M
@Pherick It's funny how people accept that the proof that the Bible is accurate is because the Bible says that it is accurate.. :D
It's also funny that the whole doctrine of the virgin birth is based on a mistranslation of the term "young woman" when the Old Testament was translated from Hebrew into Greek in the 3rd century BC...
lyle687276 · 70-79, M
@walabby Then why did Mary herself wonder about it when told that was the way it was to be? Your "proofs" you seem to have so much stock in are not what is keeping you from wanting to know God. It is your sin which you do not want to give up.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@lyle687276 See thats just it, your "proofs" of the bible are just as circular. I have read things about translation errors in the bible not even counting the Council of Nicea which chopped up and fixed the bible in whatever fashion they wished.

lyle687276 · 70-79, M
My proof is in what occupies my heart. The Bible says, " the fool says in his heart there is no God. "
Pherick · 41-45, M
@lyle687276 So your proof for the bible is a verse from the bible? You can't see how that doesn't work?
walabby · 61-69, M
@lyle687276 You just quoted the Bible to show that the Bible is accurate! :D
You believe what you want... :)

So how are you going to explain yourself to Odin when you meet Him at the Doors to Valhalla? You better start getting your story ready.
