How to gently say no to a friend who asks you out on a date?

so i went shopping with a friend today, totally should have known something was up since no one really asks me for fashion advice, especially my guy friends.. anyway we are hanging out and its going great till the moment he tells me he likes me a lot more then a friend and asks if I would ever consider going out with him...

he is one of my closest friends and now I feel like I am going to lose him if I say no.. I have no interest in dating anyone though.

any advice?

Any chance you've got a gf that's a bit of a slut 😀

@Adogslife even if she did, most women in their 20's aren't interested in men old enough to be their father/grandfather. Just being honest here.

@PlumBerries ok, this is going to sound lame, but it's been battle tested and it's not as odd as it may seem.

Tell one of his bros that you're friends with your dilemma. Have him ask "the defendant" if he really asked you out. When he admits it, the friend tells the defendant, "Bro, she's not into you like that. Now she's all bummed out that she's going to hurt your feelings so she asked me for advice.,."

He can take it from there. Every dude's taken a swing and a miss. His bro can soften the blow and get you out unscathed.

Next time you see him, give him a peck on the cheek and thank him for not crossing the line. Then don't talk about it!

Done. Nobody loses face. Bro's before... well you get it 😀

getting someone else to do it for me just doesn't feel right.. plus doing that I think will just make it even more awkward, I think we need to talk about it personally

@RCGPruett WHAT? Rcg, it's not me bro. It's her friend, her age.

Omfg.

I don't even think about women under 40.

Wow, that was a good laugh!
