What is it with these Men?

So many on the dating app I'm on start off with "Hello pretty." You don't address a mature women like she's a 17-year old girl. I actually think these types are scam artists. In fact, they must be because it's hard to believe genuine men over 50 would address a woman my age this way.

I delete every message like that or, "hello gorgeous, beautiful, honey," or any other adjective that is totally based on physicality. It automatically turns me off, and these men never get a response. Then men complain women don't respond to them, well maybe if they treated mature women like they are people and not some dumb teenage girl, they may get a response more often.

I am not on a dating site so my understanding of your story is based upon what you and others have written. I do agree with you, an opening of "Hello Pretty" or any other familiarity speaks of immaturity or lack of social skills. It implies that you are desperate and easy, at least in their minds.
If you have been communicating for awhile then I think that familiarity is OK even expected.
@Danez4u speculated that they maybe 3rd world scammers. That is not a far fetched theory as there are many reports of criminal gangs targeting dating sites, preying on the lonely.

I have noticed a pattern in your stories. The rudest at least thoughtful responses are from the 25 and under males. They appear to be devoid of empathy and critical thought processes, lacking in meaningful experiences that would provide them insight relative to your story. Not all of them but way too many.

@jim44444: Thank you for that Jim. You validated my own thoughts. It's one thing for someone I know to offer a compliment, but a total stranger with that opening line, no. It's as you, so eloquently, describe.
