Do you set clear cut, reasonable boundaries with people?

I live in a private, adult, gated community, where pretty much everybody knows everybody else. There is this neighbor who kept coming over, gossiping, and complaining, which I've grown tired of since I'm at the point in my life where I don't want negative, toxic people. I finally told her so and now she is angry. I hate people having bad feelings toward me, but have decided to stick to my guns.
(I wasn't mean or anything) Did I handle this right?

I think it is within your right to want your own wellbeing. If someones attitude is making it toxic for you, it is fine to establish this with them and put distance.
Her anger is her ego, she will get over it.
