Is it not okay to be way too available?

A friend who's the 'popular' guy in our college and has a girlfriend and a lot of female friends told me this- Never be always available for a girl. Don't always rush to help her. Never pick up all her calls or call her back instantly every time. Girls fall for the bad guys who treat them indifferently :|

Girls fall for a bad guy who treats them indifferently. Women want caring, attentive men. Don't play games. If you are indifferent someone else may come along and pick up that slack and you could end up losing someone you are about

I don't get easily brainwashed but he got me thinking today. Maybe there's some truth to the proverb 'Nice guys finish last'. Maybe it ain't time for being nice anymore.
