When it comes to a couple living together...

What would be a reasonable way to handle expenses....share power,cable/internet, water bill, trash, food,etc..or just agree to one amount a month and the owner or if just one is on lease handles all that with the set amount? What do u think should be fair or best way?

I have friends that have done this. Depending on how much each makes. So if one person makes less the percentage that person pays equals the percentage the other person pays. For me and my wife when we lived together(before marriage for 6 yrs) all money went into a checking account and the bills were payed first. What wa left is what we lived on. Now I have created a spreadsheet for the whole year....with income and expenses...slotted bills in on each week and it shows what is left....each week of the year. If you would like it I will gladly give it to you.

first you have to conclude who and how it should be applied.

look at your employment, bank accounts and how one is going to balance these articles.

.... then work from there.

it takes experience, this takes a while and sometimes forever.
it's fluid, changes as time goes along.

just do it to the BEST result not who's right or sharing, whatever who thinks 'responsibility' should be.

we're talking survival here.

You have to decide that together.

My missus gives me an amount per month but whenever she tells anybody they are shocked I don't let her stay for free! (The price is for everything to do with the house but we don't have a TV subscription). Jesus Christ, if I advertised it at that price + sex I'd have a woman in every room.

In the end it should be 50/50, but for banking purposes it may be is easier to pay the owner a set amount each month. There may also considerations due to taxes on who writes the cheques. On paper, one person may want be a "boarder".

Tabulate all expenses and pay the amount proportionate to your income (i.e. partner 1 = $70k/yr; partner 2 = $35k/yr. If you make 50% more then you pay 50% more.

Why not simply have a debit card for the house and share appropriately..

Split from each according to their ability up to 50/50

To each their own. Work out what works best for you.
