Well...I gained a lifelong friend from the experience. Walking downtown, on my way to work, I frantically signaled to a motorist in a red sports car that he was about to turn onto a one way street into oncoming traffic. He corrected, waved to me, drove on, and I went to work. Later I saw a handwritten note on a post nearby.
"To the lady in the blue suit who stopped me from accidentally KILLING myself by turning right on 3rd and Folsom yesterday, please call me so I can at least buy you lunch---Gerry in the red Triumph".I took a chance, called and met him for lunch. It wasn't going to be a romance (for one thing, he was gay) but we clicked and were friends for decades until he passed away.
