How soon is it okay to move on?

I ended my six month relationship with my best friend. He started talking about moving on and how I am an amazing person and that he is gonna have to find somebody new. That hurt because finding a new partner has not crossed my mind at all and it was one of the first things he talked about. He complimented me but in a way it seemed like he would easily move on from my "amazing" self. And now I wonder if maybe I am overthinking, and moving on right after a breakup is okay.
