I'm not sure that you really get to decide to on your own- at least that has been my experience. I think all you can do is try to detach. I think you can try to distract your mind so consistently that something other than them becomes routine and becomes what you're accustomed to. I don't know if it's something you ever truly get past if it's a genuine love but I think it's just something that you eventually learn to cope with. Sorry for being such a downer:/

I think there's a lot of reasons that people become alcoholics. That's not really something within your control, sometimes that's not something even within their control. Sometimes people don't always feel as passionately or love as much as the other person and that's difficult when you're on two different pages- that may not be the case though.
