Why shit?

Because she was awful and I said I would never date anyone like her ever again. lol. But what I look for in deciding whether to forgive someone is a sea-change in their personality, something that tells me it has become personally important to them to change. And saying something along the lines of what was described in this question would be sufficient (for my ex anyway, just addressing that the way she behaved was not acceptable would be lightyears away from what she was like)

@plungesponge: if I had someone special to me I think that I might. Personally I have a very strong motivation for believing people can grow and change. I would want to test that.

My advice is that people can change, but you are under no obligation to give anyone a second change unless they have proven beyond any doubt you may have, that they have changed.
