Yes I was, but I would stay away from them, not to discriminate but they just have a totally different culture, even if it doesn't look that way on first sight.

@HereToEntertainSW: First of all you're far less than a man, they will boss you when you're in their power etc etc, just google Ayaan Hirsi Ali , she's original from that country and wrote a lot about it.

@HereToEntertainSW: Africa is a gigantic continent with untold numbers of different cultures. No one even knows what they are let alone what they all are like. Same for Asia, South America, even Europe. Not all cultures are the sand just because they exist on the same continent. You interested in this guy? If yes then go about it the same as you would any other - learning as you go. It'll work out or it won't. All relationships are a roll of the dice but dating or having a relationship with someone very different in many ways will be an intriguing experience either way. If you like learning about different peoples and cultures. I do.

I have, yeah. And all I can say is, for me, the differences were just too great.

My tip - unless you're willing to compromise your beliefs to fit his, end the friendship.

I knew one guy from Africa. Good dude. Hard worker. That's better than most Americans.

I have. I worked in a warehouse with several African-from-Africa n's. They were all very nice people. I never had any issues with them. And I have issues with people quite easily.

I will say that a conversation I had with this African dude at work was about male and female roles. From what I could tell, in his area of Africa, which I forget, women are very submissive and almost servile. Which, I suppose is somewhat similar to Latin culture. Or, Mexican culture, anyway, where the males of the house are deferred to.

He was talking about the roles of the respective genders, and essentially that the man should have all the power and the woman should have none; that it's the man's responsibility to lead the woman. I don't know if I recall this correctly; it was a couple years ago. The one thing I can say is that he was very much about the dominant/submissive thing, extending into the relationship, not just the bedroom. So, if you like that, should work out well. Of course, I don't know if this was just his opinion; or if it extends to much of Africa. But that's the only tidbit of info I learned relating somewhat to African culture.

@TheCoolestCat: Yes, yes, go back to smoking pot--the only thing you do with your life; the only thing you post about. I'm sure that will be much more interesting, for you.

Nope, I liked an African guy too. Couldn't like him further because I didn't know how to handle that culture either.
AvGeek · 31-35, M
I find that finding out and learning about the different culture is a big part of the excitement in dating other ethnic nationals and cultures. But I'm totally fascinated with different. Since college I've only dated outside my so called race and cultural ethnic. I'm hooked for life. But again I'm really intrigued with different. I don't fear it.
