Soulmates are those that we meet throughout our lives that assist us in our soul's evolution. The connections we feel when encountering them can be very strong and familiar (known eachother in past lives) for the purpose to heal our wounds and to become stronger in our selves.
They are said to be mirrors to us and vice versa. The mirror effect is needed to reflect back to us from the the other person what we need to work on within ourselves. But to also notice our goodness too :) And we can outgrow them as we progress in life, it's just the way it is.
Soulmates don't necessarily mean romantic partnerships. They can indicate friendships, neighbors, social acquaintances, teachers, coaches, even pets... So I've met many soulmates, both here and on EP, as friends. And I've learned a lot about myself and life in general. I'm grateful and appreciative for them, and for both sites.
