Siblings should no insult and call each other rude names.

Parents who allow this are not teaching respect for others. It starts with the family.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you. If my siblings and I didn't pick on eachother, we wouldn't have been prepared for bullies at school. If I wasn't fist fighting with my older brothers, I probably would've gotten beat up in school for being the weird girl.
This is gonna sound cliché, but it builds character.
Home is where one should be safe. As you said, you can get your butt kicked in the outside world.
Well, the only character building violence Mom & Dad thought appropriate at home was Mom's hairbrush --and I as a Mom have gradually come to see their point
