thoughts on online dating?

Had a past experience years ago. I was young (and desperate, though I didn't realise it then). Thoughts? Why do people do it? Is it a good way to find a companion? Can someone date online and build a good, long lasting relationship out of it?

I met someone online in August I've now been dating for about four months, we didn't know we'd date, though, we met in an online card game and just started talking. INSTANT click, we could but just feel it from how easy it was to talk. We started video chatting days later, and since then we've been inseparable!

Yes, but a word to the wise, try to put a healthy distance between yourself and the person. That did not happen with my own online relationship and when it ended, I looked back and realised that I had spent nearly all nights and days with a person from another continent, and so much time had been wasted. Please don't see this as an attack on your relationship, I'm just trying to give some advice from my own experience. Best wishes.
