How do you feel about artificially created intimacy?

Would it be ethical to use artificial intelligence to create a synthetic "perfect partner" that can fulfill your emotional and psychological needs without having true consciousness? What might be the long-term consequences for human relationships?

Also there are real and serious consequences to loneliness and depression. It's easy for those with a reliable red of social relationships to opine about those who go home to an empty place where no one is waiting for them. Day after day. If AI helps fuck it why not.

@Infamous607 The biggest question there is if it would help? I don’t know the answer but psychologically there’s a fine line between a coping mechanism and something that actually helps and it could vary case to case. I’ve already seen people talk firsthand about developing an addiction to ai chat sites. Even before AI people have asked the same questions about tv, video games, social media etc. When does it all become a replacement for life and human connections rather than complementing them.

@Spectra People come here because of the same needs. Companionship to fight loneliness, to share things with someone.
We believe that those we interact with are real people. We choose to believe that. But how do you know?
All you're actually doing is typing words on a keyboard or a phone.
How much different is that?
In terms of addiction every new technology comes with that risk.
Coping mechanism?
My friend, what, of anything we do is not a coping mechanism?

@Infamous607 That’s pretty much what I was trying to highlight. That it isn’t dissimilar to the forms of media that already exist and like those other sources it has the potential to either help or hinder depending on the person using it and what they’re using it for and how often.
