I certainly am not in a relationship with him. I don't know him. I am in a relationship with most of my family.

@pdockal romance is implied in a RELATIONSHIP relationship. If we were just talking about relationships I. The sense of the kind you have with your aunt Nancy, then this conversation wouldn’t be happening. It’s annoying that there aren’t 2 separate words for the kind of relationship you have with your partner (a RELATIONSHIP relationship) and the kind you have with friends, family, acquaintances, etc., but people differentiate the two with how the sentence is set up. HAVING a relationship = either, IN a relationship = the kind you have with your partner. It’s not that hard to get

@pdockal authority on a subject matter comes naturally with increased expertise. If there was a professional linguist here with a specialization in English, the authority would default to them. But between just the two of us, it goes to the person with the better understanding of language and english. Since that’s clearly an area where you struggle, and I have superior verbal skills, obviously it defaults to myself. Of course a superior verbal ability does not equate to superiority in every facet of the word, but that’s not really relevant. Also, the words I use aren’t particularly big ones, so that’s a moot point.
