What is the point of people blocking/avoiding/ignoring/being rude to people they like and care about?

Just heard someone talk about someone they consider "the one that got away," but they said they blocked them on everything and deleted all of their other contact info, but desperately hope they reach out. Respectfully, how does this make any sense? 🤣

I mean, to me, if someone blocks me on everything, I'm going to assume they don't want me contacting them, and therefore I'm not going to do it. Even if people unfriend/block on one platform, I just leave it alone and don't reach out to them. I simply have no interest in begging anyone to be a part of my life, or to have anything to do with people who don't want me in theirs.

How do you even contact someone if you're blocked on everything, anyway? 🤨 Is it expected to create a new profile/borrow a different phone or something? That is typically considered harassment, I'd think.

I guess I get it if someone blocks someone trying to get over them, but in that case, why would you want them to reach out? Wouldn't the idea be to distance yourself from them?

Is this a common thing people do? If so, why?

Sounds like head games or manipulation and emotional immaturity. But some have avoidant issues.
