Does anyone know safe cities/states for women of color? I want to leave these small southern cities.

I was raised in Pinedale Wyoming. I was the only black girl in the whole school in the 2000s. Then my mother moved me to NC which is in the south. Living in these small racist cities is really affecting me mentally. I can’t make friends, everyone acts nasty towards me. White people keep trying to drive my car off the road. They see me as threat. I don’t have a big family as I don’t know my dads side and my mothers side died off when I was a teenager. My mother is retired with her disabled husband so she stays in this racist town but they never really have to leave their place except for food. I just feel like there’s no where safe for black women. Our men at times are a danger to us, and then a lot of yt people are evil to us. I have a bad feeling something is going to happen to me. I also feel like I’m being targeted because everytime I’m driving people flash my car, and I was told to flash them back. Then I decided I’m not going to do that because I already stick out. The other day when I leaving crumble cookie these two young white women blocked me in when I was trying to leave. I honestly just get the vibe they don’t like seeing black women that are pretty or have nicer cars than them. Something about them seeing a black woman drive a Jeep really pisses them off. I didn’t know it was that bad down here cause I just left VA as I was leaving a abusive marriage. This is really draining and I don’t know who to go too. I have to make a living and take care of myself. I can’t let these people intimidate me. I grew up to love everyone and please don’t think I’m making this up this is my life and it happens everyday. I’m shocked this is happening to me in 2023 but this is what happens in the real work in the South. Esp when your out numbered.

My aunt went to the southern us and she said the racism towards blacks is insane lol. You could come to Canada

@Flenflyys I just want to run away. I’m a fighter too I feel like I need the world to know or see this is still alive and real. It’s so scary and draining. It feels like a Lifetime Movie. I’m scared to tell the police because I don’t want to become a even bigger target. I’m not sure what to do.

@Lexiitexii that sounds just awful. I can understand wanting to fight back but taking on systemic racism is a lot. I understand you want to go somewhere you can feel safe.

@Flenflyys That's not true. 😂 You people are going by heresay. Unless you live in the deep South in states like Mississippi, Alabama,
Louisiana, Arkansas , and Georgia, its not bad at all. Unless you live down here you would never know. Up North is way more racist than the South. Especially in states like Pennsylvania , West Virginia, Wisconsin, Southern Illinois, and Ohio. And some parts of upstate New York.
Definitely Massachusetts.
Stay outta Boston. It ain't good.
But anyway the South has pockets of racist towns that is still stuck in the 1950s. We know who they are. Just live your life and respect those who respect you. 🙂

@Zonuss oh I didn’t realize you accompanied my aunt on her trip.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@Flenflyys Name one state in the US where there is zero racism. 🙂

@Zonuss I think you should make your own posts with statistics to support your argument; I’d be interested in reading it. But trying to minimize the experience of the OP or using whataboutism for my aunt’s report doesnt change the fact that the USA is known for systemic racism towards blacks, in the same way my country has that reputation towards indigenous peoples. The OP shared her story, I shared something that was parallel to her experience, that’s it.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@Flenflyys Forget statistics. I'm a Black man. Nobody knows racism more than I do. I'm sure everyone has ran into a racist of all colors in their lifetime before . Yes systemic racism is real but there are ways around it. My life experiences has taught me how not to make excuses and adapt to your surroundings. I do it well. Not saying people don't deal with these issues but we also know that you cannot make generalizations in a time when Black women especially have advanced and came up far greater than they ever have before. Thank you.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@Zonuss that’s great that you’ve had a good life with kind people. Other people have different experiences. You aren’t a black woman. She wrote someone tried to run her off the road, so the way around that was to what? Take the shoulder and move on?

The racism my relative witnessed was a culture shock. So while you might estimate it as being mild or tolerable, other people do not.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@Flenflyys Do you know the whole story behind that ?
And do you know this person outside of SW ? Exactly. Anything can happen anywhere at any given time.
That doesn't mean you should generalize because that's only making excuses and perpetuating stereotypes. You're making yourself the victim when you can't get outta your own way. 🙂
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@Zonuss I’m not a victim of anything in this situation. Your experience doesn’t cancel out hers, is the point ive rephrased a few times, but now we are just rehashing the same thing repeatedly. I can contribute no further. Take care.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@Flenflyys You can't believe everything you hear on here. I've seen this person's post before. Some of it seems like entertainment. And you don't know the whole story behind this if it's true. People who cannot find peace at all usually are victimizing themselve and causing their own problems. I see this kind of behavior every day. You can call it what you will. Good day. 🙂
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@Zonuss by your own logic I shouldn’t believe a word you say. However I do know my aunt, for a lifetime, and have made appropriate judgements on her reliability.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@Flenflyys You don't have to. Because I live it. Sure your aunt was shocked. I've heard a lot of racist stories about Canada too. That doesn't mean its a bad country. Do you want a cookie. 🙂
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@Zonuss but you’re posting it on the internet intending that someone else will read it. Do you see how you’re applying these principles inconsistently?
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@Flenflyys You imply that Canada, a place where there is mostly White is not comparable to the South. That's not what I heard dear. Now
cancel me. Especially after Trump was beat in the last Election. Have you seen those Karen videos about Canada.😂
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@Zonuss Canada is not comparable to the Southern USA for a multitude of reasons. But for the sake of this conversation, it’s not comparable in that this country hasn’t demonstrated a systematic oppression of black people for hundreds of years. We have, however, a history of ethnocide and discrimination towards the indigenous population. The nuances are both obvious and complex, and I’ll refer you to a really detailed document called the Truth and Reconciliation Report. It’s interesting and informative and you’ll be able to identify firsthand the differences between the two locations.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@Flenflyys Well I definitely do agree with you there. Thank you. 😊
Peaceandnamaste · 26-30, F
@Zonuss I hate being from the south and I hate being from Alabama.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
@Peaceandnamaste You live in the deep South.
It's not as bad once you get into the Virginia, Carolina, Florida areas.

@sladejr I have heard about the racial climates in those cities. And about states such as Ohio Indiana, and Michigan.
