Has anyone ever left in the middle of a first date?

I never have but I have thought about it. It was just awful.

Much better to say something like, "Look...I don't want to be rude. But I don't to waste your time, either. You're an attractive woman who can make a man very happy, but I've figured out I am not that man. Since we're obviously not a match, I'm going to call it a night and take you home [or go home]."
