Actually, no. It is far more common than you would think. However, they tend to receive gender assignment surgery early in life.

no it's not, hermaphrodite means they're able to give birth and father children. Which is impossible in humans because of how our genes function.

@DestructivePersona: Errr. 1) Although rare, human hermaphrodites have been able to reproduce. 2) Dictionary definition of hermaphrodite says absolutely nothing about reproduction.

Please cite such a thing, because there's no way they exist. You can either be SRY positive, negative, or various degrees SRY functionality, but none of those produce true hermaphrodites.

it's impossible for a human to have both gonades that produce functional gametes of both types. There has never been a case of a person who could actually play both roles. It's impossible.
