I HATE to argue. It always reminds me of my parents and how they argued seemingly every day of my youth, until finally deciding to divorce after my youngest sibling left the nest.... way too late if you ask me....
I told my spouse the story of my dysfunctional upbringing before we married, and told her of my aversion to arguing. So after 30+ years together, I can say that I can count the number of arguments we have had on one hand. We still disagree, we just don't argue about it... we tend to compromise more often.... I give a little, she gives a little.
And I usually ask myself one simple question.....
"Will this be important to me tomorrow?"
Breaking up (walking away)...is something I used to do when I was much younger and before I met someone who could "give a little..take a little."
