Does the occasional light flirting count as cheating? (Nothing more, just the odd back and forward with a stranger)

Maybe. Some flirting is unintentional, some flirting is honestly just being friendly. I'd say that if you would be uncomfortable if your partner accidentally saw it then yes its cheating.
