Palliative care is not what it's cracked up to be.
In 2% of cases there is no drug that can prevent certain types of physical pain.
In almost all other cases, antidepressants and other aids are not sufficient to compensate for the gradual losses.
I've worked in palliative. Medicos do their best, but what's possible is insufficient. Good deaths are rare.
