How to ask him to hang out?

Me and my boyfriend are in an academic team together and we spent most of the day together ( 6am to 3pm) and its 7pm now and I feel like hanging out. Should I ask my boyfriend to hang out or should he take a break from seeing me? If I should, how do I bring it up.
