I tend not to block unless really needed. Plus I think that's what lots of trolls want.

Is this guy just being a troll for the sake of it? Or has he decided that he hates you because of some reason and will now give you a hard time. I've had a few people attack me (on EP) because I dared to disagree with them, or possibly, question as to why they had a particular belief. I'm still quite happy to block them if they can't tolerate me (and won't block me themselves).
