People keep telling me I have a white sounding voice. I’m not white ?

I articulate my words and I have a kind voice except I’m a ethnic woman and I really frigggn hate it here. Girls that even try to be my friend always remind me I have a white voice. I just feel like am I suppose to sound dumb or talk ghetto to get respect. When ever I tell them things that happen in my life they say oh it’s cause your sweet and your voice is so sweet and I sound white. Idk what to do because even as a adult I still have to feel like a outsider just because I articulate also I watch plenty of movies and shows and women of color that are successful sound just like me or similar. It makes me want to just be quiet turn my phone off and quit talking to people who think I talk weird or compare my voice to a whole race.

Grrrr! I hate this soo much! Just because an "ethinic" person uses good grammer and diction, doe not EVEN mean they sound white!

Have you HEARD ig'nertt w wypipo? They sound Stupid!
We all deserve to decide, whenn, and when NOt to use formal language. I can speak pefect broadcast english, and work hard to sound good in any language.

Ihave pals, that get so frutrated with this, that they respnd with the thickest "urban acent" they can. Verbal, black face.

@plaguewatcher I know but it’s actually my own people of color who treat me bad because I articulate idk of maybe it’s my friends circle or something but most of the black girls I meet tell me i sound white or have a baby voice and then tell me that’s why people think they can run over me

@Lexiitexii oh hun! I feel this! Tho i am a "blue eyed devil' white southerner.
I can easily abandon the regional accent.
In some parts of the US to speak in my family way, is a great benefit. ( upper class southern has amazing effect on loweer class southerners.)

To feel what you do, to be isolated thus. Is tragic.

There are lot of Califonians of african heritage that are like TOOOTally white sounding , and have been all their lives.

I am a natural mimic, useful.
But if i speak Hillbilly? It is assumed i am uneducated and practice insest.
