Cute has the inherent symmetry of beauty, but not its elegance or potential complexity. Cute brings out the nurture aspect, the mother impulse. You want to care for it, protect it.
Beauty takes that same inherent symmetry of cuteness, but marinades it deep throughout. It doesn't just catch your eye like cute does, it will make you pause to experience it.
