Chivalry! 😏

@Northwest Being very polite and civil - opening doors for a lady, traditional politeness. I think!
@Oneofthestormboys no...it also means being honest when no one's looking. It's a very powerful character trait.

@Vivaci Isn't this historical conditioning, as in women are weak and men are big and string, therefore it is a man's responsibility to be chivalrous, and for a woman to be the damsel in distress?
Historically, men have used Chivalry, to reenforce male domination, or possessiveness.
I am not trying to be politically correct, but I guess chivalry is about the intent of the chivalrous party.
I don't try to be impolite, when I don't open a door for a woman, I just don't want them to assume that they have neither the physical, nor mental ability, to figure out how a door handle works.

@Northwest it is about the intent. I have never been foolish enough to see women as weak and never had a desire to dominate or possess.
Chivalry at its core recognizes that others are worthy and valuable and worth sacrificing self for. @Vivaci said it best, describing it as being honest when no ones looking.
It has to do with character and integrity and keeping your promises.
I don’t need to open a door for anyone who prefers to do so themselves, but I gladly have opened doors for nearly 40 years for the strongest person I have ever met. She happens to be the world’s most beautiful woman as well, but I consider that a coincidence.
Know those in your life and forget about what is popular, simply treat them as valuable and you will be chivalrous.
