Why many white men loves to date Asian women?

All my male friends had a phase when they preferred Asian girls but most of them said they had "grown up from it". Some after they actually tried dating one or they had a friend who showed them how different our cultures were. Of course, it depends on who they met. One guy told me he was quite put off by lack of independent thinking and spontaneity of one particular Japanese girl. He said it was like talking to a robot pre-set to fake interest in any topic while at the same time avoiding to express her true opinion of the thing at all costs.
