I think it's independence vs dependence. Like, when I was a teenager, I was totally codependent. I *couldn't* live on my own; I needed--and I assume you mean romantically--a romantic partner to even survive.
Now, I don't need a romantic partner. Independence vs dependence.
If you, like, can't survive without a romantic partner, finding a hobby is a great idea. "Anxious" style lovers tend to do a lot better when they have somewhere else to place their focus.
