I told her "my life might be easier with a girlfriend" and she said "maybe you don't need one"?

Why would she say "maybe you don't need a girlfriend" if she hardly knows me yet? When I asked her why, she said I wouldn't be used to it (again, how would she know?).

Interesting fact now is that once when she found out about me secretly staring at her ass after her friend caught me, for quite some time she had a shy smile around me whenever she saw me.

A cautious guess here: Did she expect me to ask her out, and after I didn't, she assumed that I wouldn't "need a girlfriend"?

She’s got a great point. If you think you need a girlfriend, it may be one of the last things you need.

Loving yourself and being comfortable in solitude are building blocks of a healthy relationship.
