When does a friend become a bf/gf??

Help. I am in need of some advice.
I have recently separated from my husband for about two months now. ( He has now moved out)
I have had a friend that I was spending time with for about a month. I thought we were friends hanging out. ( no naughty stuff). Last weekend he came over and basically informed me that we are bf/gf. Things will be better now and we are “ now going to be together forever and life will be grand.”
Am I missing something here ??

I hope things work out well for you re. your "friend". I put "friend" n quotes because it didn't sound like you had given him any reason to think your relationship was anything but platonic.

That raises psychological red flags to me. And no, I'm not a psychologist, but with 3 ex-wives, so far--LOL, I've had enough therapy that I think I should have an honorary degree in psychology from UHK (University of Hard Knocks).
