depends how new "new" is, and how much money it is.
justanothername · 51-55, M
In that case they should have given him a warning. Did he know that he wasn’t allowed to do that?
@lauriethecolourful
@justanothername That's what I said, too. He didn't know. He knew he wasn't supposed to when we was working there, but not at a staff party in the bar.
justanothername · 51-55, M
The company could also be at fault for allowing an employee to work behind the bar at a staff function. Normally a company would use contract catering to provide the good and alcohol so that employees are not put in compromising situations.

Wth lol?! So you are paying him/he is effectively charging you for dates - tell him to get lost 😁
justanothername · 51-55, M
Welding is a good skill to have. You guys may need to look at moving to a town that has welding work available.
@justanothername He wasn't working when it happened. It was a staff party.
justanothername · 51-55, M
Did they not have proper bar tenders behind the bar?

It's a trap
Once you start "giving" money how will you ever quit giving money. Can you respect a new boyfriend money when you have to treat him like your child?
@Pitchblue Well, it's just a temporary thing, to be honest. Something came up at work. We have been taking care of each other like this since we started dating. Once at 2am I needed painkillers and we went out, bought them and sent them to me in a taxi. I should have specified that.
@lauriethecolourful 100% different if it's reciprocal or if you've been paid back in the past.

justanothername · 51-55, M
Why doesn’t he have his own money?
If you give him money then please go get a brain scan
@BeefySenpie Well, I should have specified, but we have both been helping each other out in these ways since we started dating.
justanothername · 51-55, M
Normally it would be the employers responsibility to tell the employees how they are expected to behave at a work function, if they didn’t tell him that he wasn’t allowed to drink alcohol while serving it then you should see a lawyer because it sounds like a case of unfair dismissal.
If going out is something I want to do, and he’s broke, I’d pay for the date.

If you’re talking about helping to support him, that’s a little different. Be careful not to overdo it and end up short on money yourself. He won’t be able to help. He’s unemployed.

Never give anything expecting it back.
OlderDude · 61-69, M
Wtf? No! Pay you back in the form of dates??? Serious?? Like would he not date anyway? Seems to me like hes asking for money up front to cover costs if the relationship doesn't work out.
Hes a cheap SOB and should be, not so politely, shown the door.
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
I wouldnt give him money.that makes no sense. He can borrow it from his buddies and make a deal with them.It just doesnt sound good.

If someone’s a new boyfriend and he’s already asking for money, that’s a HUGE red flag.
