Can you love someone and not be physically attracted to them?

And im not talking about platonic love or the love between family members.

I think people become more attractive as your feelings for them grow, so my answer would be yes.

Yes. I didnt fancy my husband one bit when we met. His best friend was dating my cousin....thats how we met. He asked me out many tines and i kept saying no. But.. i liked him and the more i got to know him the more i liked him. I hadnt seen him in ages when my cousin gave him my number and he rang out of the blue. I admit i thought he had guts to do that. When i saw him he seemed better looking than id remembered and the more i got to know him, the more attractive he became to me.

Awww i like that. Thanks for sharing 🤗@RubySoo

I think that can be the purest love...and if there is no sex involved...it's platonic

i think thats what platonic means
kayoshin · 36-40, M
That is by definition platonic love.
SW-User
Ofc. If you aren't atracted to them at all or sex is bad with them but they are still great people you could love them. But it's not as intense as that love filled with lust.
SW-User
Agreed 100%, the passion won’t be there unfortunately @SW-User
My first question would be, is the non-attracted person attracted to other people they don’t love?
SW-User
Yes he is. He compliments other women all the time and he claims he loves his wife but she says (she’s a friend of mine) she doesn’t feel his attraction to her. It’s so confusing to me😩@Mamapolo2016
@SW-User There’s a thing called - I think - a Madonna complex (not the singer). Some men, especially after a woman bears their children, have a big conflict seeing them as sexual.

Counseling might help.

Or he’s a playah.
SW-User
I think that May be it. After she had children things changed. Thanks for your opinion on this😊@Mamapolo2016

Yes, someone who’s asexual for example.
Reject · 26-30, M
@SW-User Oh. Well he doesn’t sound asexual if he’s always complimenting other women. 😟 That doesn’t sound good. I’d try talking to him about it. Ask why he doesn’t compliment her.
SW-User
Nope in his case he’s not asexual just being a jerk i think. Poor thing, i feel bad for her @Reject
Reject · 26-30, M
@SW-User Yeah... it looks that way for sure. I hope he’s not just using her somehow. He should be confronted about it before we assume anything, but be prepared for the worst. That’s my advice for that situation. Try to be there for her. These things are never easy.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
In my opinion, no. Sex is too important to me. I have actually dated three people I wasn’t physically attracted to, and all three were just boring and torturous.

Yeah. But it's difficult because the other person usually just feels like you're rejecting them, you know?
SW-User
Yeah that sucks@SW-User

No. there has to be that physical attraction or it's not going to work. IMHO of course.
How dramatically did she change since giving birth
SW-User
It was pretty much all in her tummy area. Stretch marks, her belly got a bit bigger, breasts weren’t as perky. I would guess she gained around 20 pounds tops @lulaluboo

Honestly I believe love endures all but I need to be attracted too🖤
raysam363 · 31-35, F
It's possible, but difficult.
SW-User
Been having this discussion with someone and I appreciate any and all input given. Thanks@raysam363
raysam363 · 31-35, F
@SW-User I think the main issue is that loving someone without attraction can usually lead to a platonic relationship, but it may give signals to the other person that it's something more. However, sometimes loving someone and getting to know them can make them more attractive to you, a developing bond is a valuable thing.
