i would not react. i would question my own judgement of character.

Some of my friends wanted to do that, but they wouldn't endanger our friendship. If they had actually tried, we would have had a serious discussion about it.

I would be disappointed, but a “crush” isn’t actually a commitment. A guy on whom I once had a mild crush actually fell deeply in love with a friend of mine. She wasn’t my best friend, but nothing was going to happen between him and me, so there was no reason for her not to go for it.
