The question here isnt really about observing the faith, but about the presence of a real relationship with Christ. Calling yourself a christian doesnt mean you have a relationship with God. I can call myself a Chevy and stand in my garage, but that doesnt mean a thing. The term "Christian" directly means "little Christs", and in order to truly be a Christian, we have to model and exemplify the life Christ led. Jesus said that people will know his disciples by their love for one another and because they will "look" like him(figuratively speaking). Sadly, far too many call themselves christians but dont even know the Christ they claim to follow. A relationship with Jesus should alter every aspect of ones life....not just give you the desire to show up at church occasionally or tote a bible around, or put a necklace on or a bumper sticker on your car. I dont mean to preach, but felt the need to explain my response in detail to either answer questions, or create an opportunity for conversation. Have a wonderful evening.
Thank you for this. As someone who was raised in the church this was my observation as well. Although being a Christian doesn't by any stretch of the imagination imply perfection, it is a weighty delineation, as it well should be. I think it's for the greater good to hold one's ilk to a higher standard in the name of the Lord. @FORMERLYbatovn
