Concerned about my ex

My friend went to his house as she is friends with us both.
Apparently my ex seemed really irritated with my son who is 8. They were eating together and my ex kept commenting that my son was 'not eating properly '. He kept staring and eventually said 'That's it', grabbed the plate, threw it in the sink alongside all the food on it. My friend is concerned at the level of annoyance over something so minor. Should I be worried?

That is definitely an overreaction. There must be some other issue bothering him, and he explodes on these minor issues. Whenever I have other concerns I also get irrirated by kids (they always have a way of irritating parents ;)). But when I am good with myself I see how minor these things are. So, your ex, if this happens repeatedly someone needs to talk to him.

@sumojumo Agree with you. He says he is blissfully happy with his new girlfriend. Strange way of showing it 😐

You're getting a second hand story, from a "friend". You should talk to your ex about, in a non confrontational way, so you can get the other side of the story. Talk to your kid also, but not in a "tell me what happened at dad's".

His house, his rules, unless he's being abusive.

@Jenni855 Then you should figure a way to have a conversation with your son, without leading him on.

@Northwest I didn't lead him on?

@Jenni855 I didn't say you lead him on. I said you should be careful when you have that conversation, as to avoid leading him on, not purposely, but it's hard to have that conversation, with a kid, without tripping, and risk having them tell you something they think you want to hear.
